What a night in the "City On Down"!

It was January 27, 2007 at 9:45 and it was finally time. It was a night I had been looking forward to since it was announced. I couldn't believe they were actually walking on stage. I had been so nervous for days. For some reason it felt as if I was playing.
To turn around from my second row seats and see 19,500 people behind me screaming for O.A.R. put me in another place. I had seen these guys in front of 100 people, a thousand people, five thousand people... now this. I had met and talked to all the guys and I knew that tonight was one of their biggest nights of the year and it was mine too.

From the opening rif to the last note I never went back in my seat, it was their stage. Getting the crowd going with "Love And Memories" and hearing the roar brought a smile to my face. Then to hear one of the best versions of one of my favorite songs ever "Untitled" really got me high!
From then on the night was a pure dream. I couldn't help to just turn around and smile or look at the guys and smile. I know they play their hearts out every show but this was different. This was the mecca, this was the stage, this is what it was all about. Every freestlye, every solo, every bass line, every drum intro it just sounded incredible.
The passion, the energy, they didn't just play this show, they owned this show. The setlist, the lighting, the crowd, the sound, the cameras, it was on a whole level. It is the end of May and I still smile everytime I think of that night.
I still get emotional when they dedicate "About Mr. Brown" to their friend Michael. June 5 will be like Christmas for me. I will be sitting by the door waiting for that DVD/CD. They did it right. It couldn't of happened to a better group of guys.

When I first started listening to the band in about 2002 my Dad said if "your" band every plays MSG then I will be there and that will mean they really made it. I knew they made it to me but that was something I wasn't sure if I would ever see.

He was there in 06 and 07 and when he heard Marc during the last song of the night say "Let's take it to the New York City on down" he might of yelled out the loudest.

Thank you Marc, Jerry, Richard, Chris and Benj. It couldn't of happened to a better group of guys. MSG is now my "Black Rock".

Mike I was not ther for the MSG show man but reading your comment on it makes me feel like I was. They are truly amazing and I am about to see them in a few weeks in Atlanta. Will be a blast but prob not compare to MSG. Will let everyone know about the show when I come back.

if you had to rate that show on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the highest) i would have to rate that a 100! Insane, the dvd/cd are amazing but still cannot compare to the actual night. The first time O.A.R. played at MSG was my frist show and this was the forth time i saw them in a year and nothing can compare them O.A.R. at the garden

this was a great night, not just because of the show but for all the cool/nice/great people i met at, during, and before the show. It was great to run into my boy Jeff and have some drinks before the show. I agree the music from the band is great but it's something special when you can make friends with people that enjoy their music and much as you do.

Good stuff kid.

Great review Mike. Your everywhere. You Can't say it much better then this.

This night meant the world to me. I flew in from california for this night and it was well worth the trip. Now i sit here in Iraq and hope i will get this cd/dvd combo somehow. I sit back every night and fall asleep to a song and when i wanna go home i listen to I feel home". When talking to the guys about leaving they really care for their fans that are in the armed forces and ask how we do it. All i can say is we do it with what brings us home the most. I can say from my heart that is you guys and every fan of theirs that tells their own story about what a show or this show meant to them. thank you guys for giving me a sense of home and a center for my loneliness while being so far from my friends and family.

im not going to lie, but i think that msg 2006 was the better of the 2 concerts(not saying that 2007 wasnt amazing)...but the emotion and the sensation in my body and in the band was just uncomparable in 2006. But mike, you truely hit the spot, i often talk to my friends about how emotional OAR is, and they just think they are a drunk jam band, but listening to them all these years, they are far more...JERRY FOR PRESIDENT

right on michael

January 27, 2007. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
